Buckle up – it’s about to get bumpy!
The storms that tore through the Southeast last month left huge swaths of destruction in their wake. While our home in Mississippi was untouched, our cabin in eastern Alabama sustained significant damage. Having considered the extent of the necessary repairs, as well as the complication added by trying to oversee these repairs from 5 hours away, we have come to a decision.
The Sims family is moving to Auburn, Alabama!
Auburn is only about 40 minutes from the cabin and has always been on our “short list” of areas where we’d like to live. Our current situation is changing our “dream” to a reality – just not in the way we expected.
So, to answer a few questions….
Is this a permanent move?
Yes, most likely. We will start out in an apartment while our cabin is being fixed, but we plan to eventually buy a home there.
What is the time frame?
We would like to have an apartment by June 1 if possible. Paul will be there first, focused on coordinating clean up and repairs while Amanda works on packing the house in Mississippi.
What about Jadyn?
Well, Auburn has a fantastic school district and we are confident she’ll do well there. She’s excited about the move and basically understands why it’s happening.
Does this mean you’re going to be Auburn fans?
It’s hard to imagine trading in our crimson and white for blue and orange.
What are your prayer needs?
· Paul needs a part time job somewhere in Auburn so that he can bring in something while managing the repair project.
· We need to find a decent rental that will be covered by our loss of use insurance. It would be helpful if it allowed pets, because Jadyn will have a hard time if we can’t bring our dog Hershey.
· Most of all, we need wisdom and guidance from God as we figure out what to do and in what order.
We appreciate the prayers and support from our friends and family as we embark on this new adventure!
